Does UP Police impose partial imprisonment for not wearing a mask?

In the time of Covid-19, the Police, Government has taken many advisory steps to save the citizens of a country. Wearing a mask comes under major precautions taken during Covid-19. As per the viral tweet on Twitter, UP police will start a campaign for 30 days where they will keep a check on the public regarding wearing and charges will also be charged against people who are not wearing the mask.

@Uppolice”

The tweet roughly translates Honorable UP Police, the way the corona pandemic is causing, UP Police has instructed the citizen that they will run a mask campaign and announced a fine or 10 hours jail sentence on those who will not walk by wearing masks. I (Manoj) wants to ask why you people don’t apply this same law to politicians.

Fact check

The news of imprisonment of 10 hours for not wearing mask is fake and it is clarified by UP Police, itself.

In the reply to Manoj Srivastava, UP police tweets, “ यूपी पुलिस द्वारा ऐसी कोई एडवाइजरी जारी नहीं की गई है पर सबको ये एडवाइज ज़रूर है कि मास्क ज़रूर पहने। #UPPViralCheck

The tweet roughly translates in English is that UP police has not started the Mask campaign for just 30 days instead it will remain till the last tiny existence of Corona Virus. Punishment shall be given to people who are wearing masks but imprisonment for 10 hours is a piece of fake news, Therefore, no such orders have prevailed.

UP Police Tweet

Conclusion: The news is fake and misleading as it is directly confronted by UP Police itself. Therefore, keep your guards up.
