Video of Myanmar falsely attributed to Manipur Conflict. Discover the facts here
Recently, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh awarded Commendation Certificates to Assam Police DGP and officers for training 1,946 Manipur police personnel, due to ethnic strife in Manipur. Amid this, a video showing a man tied to a pole being severely beaten by another man has gone viral on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) with the claim that it’s from Manipur.
Sharing this video on X, a user named Eongyoo Kips wrote: “Kangleipak 650sqkm ( a place where arambai Tenggol have power more than state forces )

Additionally, another user named Pauboi quote-requoted this video on X tagging Manipur Police and other authorities.

Fact-Check
In the probe, the DFRAC team found that the video was from Myanmar. It is unrelated to the Manipur conflict.
Out team converted this video into some keyframes and reverse-searched them using google lens that took us to YouTube where we found the same video posted on Jan 15, 2025, with the title: “Illegal detention of victims and grave atrocities in Myanmar’s Myawaddy Industrial Park”

Not only this but we also found the video was shared on X with captions in Chinese language suggesting that the video is related to the human trafficking networks running in Myanmar in which young people are defrauded based on giving work and high perks but ultimately ending up being sold in Myanmar. We are sharing the screenshots of the posts with the caption’s translation.

Conclusion
DFRAC’s fact-check confirms that the above-shared video claiming to be from Manipur has been misleadingly shared on X. The video is from Myanmar indeed and is associated with the human trafficking network running in Myanmar.
