A video capturing chaotic scenes from a street has gone viral on social media. In this video, it can be seen that some people are breaking a jeep. While sharing the video, users wrote: “Jihadis try to loot army vehicle in West Bengal.”

Moreover, several users shared this video and made similar claims. The link can be seen here and here.
Fact Check
During the investigation, DFRAC found the claim to be false. We found a video on the YouTube channel ‘Jamuna TV,’ uploaded on October 31, 2024, with the description: “The agitating garment workers set fire to two vehicles of the army and the police in the Kachukshet area of Mirpur No. 14, the capital. This incident happened around 10 am on Thursday. Traffic was completely stopped in the area.”
Furthermore, we also found a report from ‘The Business Standard’ published on October 31, 2024, which states, “Two vehicles belonging to the Bangladesh Army and police were set on fire during a protest by RMG workers in the Kachukhet area of the capital today (31 October).”

Upon closer inspection, we saw a board in the viral video with “Dutch Bangla Bank Limited, Ibrahimpur” written on it. When searching this name on Google Maps, we found that this place is in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. Comparing the places shown in the street view and the viral video further proves that this location is not in West Bengal, but in Bangladesh.

Conclusion
It is evident from DFRAC’s fact check that the viral video is from Bangladesh, not from West Bengal, India. Therefore, the claim made by social media users is misleading.
