A poster regarding the FIFA World Cup 2022 is getting viral on social media, which will start in Qatar from next month, i.e. November 2022. In this poster, the claimed sanctions imposed by the Qatar government have been mentioned.

The poster quoted in English and Arabic -“Qatar welcomes you, followed by a statement to avoid these behaviors to show your respect for the religion and culture of the Qatar people, these behaviors include drinking alcohol, homosexuality, immorality, not respecting places of worship, loud music, and voice, abuse, dating and taking pictures of people without their permission.”

Fact check:
To analyze the reality of the viral poster, the DFRAC team first searched for this poster on the official Twitter account of Qatar FIFA World Cup 2022. But the team found nothing related to the sign. In fact, we found an opposite tweet that denies the viral poster.

The viral poster was not official and contained factually incorrect information. It further states that a comprehensive fan guide will also be released soon.
Apart from this, we also found a report from the Middle East Eye. Qatar will allow spectators to drink for up to 19 hours a day at the World Cup 2022, but only at a venue that will host a month-long concert, it said. These permissions will be from 10 am to 5 am every day.

Therefore, the viral poster is fake.
