Fact Check: Fake picture shared with the claim that they are Ukrainian firefighters.

A picture is getting viral on the internet. Sharing the picture users are claiming that this image is of Ukrainian firefighters . Moreover, sharing the image @cxxkmxnster wrote the caption, “Pretty sure Ukrainian firefighters had something a little bit worse than 9/11 *whispers* Chernobyl.”

Similarly, many other social media users shared this picture praising the Ukrainian firefighters amid this ongoing Russia Ukraine crisis.

Fact Check

On reverse image search, we got the same image on the profile of renowned musicians The Wolfe Brothers. Further, they posted this picture in 2019. The caption of the picture is, “s it the Diesel, or the barbed wire, or breaking your back to fight a Bush Fire” If you are unaware currently in Tasmania there are some seriously bad Bush Fires. Nearly 3 percent of the state has been destroyed. A friend sent us this photo. LOOK at these incredible men, they look like they have been in a war zone! To all the Firefighters, Emergency Services, Police, Paramedics, and Volunteers know there is a LOT of people around this country that really appreciate you and can’t thank you enough for what you do! #Respect”.” Moreover, they also thanked the men in the picture who are Jason Luck, John Kroczewski, and Paul Catterall.

Furthermore, the viral image was published by many media reports like dailymail and the guardian of February 2019. These reports mentioned that they are the Tasmanian Firefighters. Hence, users are sharing this picture with a fake claim.

Conclusion

Therefore, from our fact check analysis, it is clear that this picture is old. And, they are Tasmanian firefighters, not Ukrainian firefighters.
