A claim is being circulated on social media that a religious procession was taken out by Hindus in front of a mosque in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh. The video is being shared in the context of the recent demolition of a mosque located within the Collectorate premises in Saharanpur by the administration. The incident has generated considerable discussion across the country.In the viral video, several people wearing saffron-coloured clothes can be seen passing in front of a mosque. One of the men in the procession can also be seen carrying a sword. Users are sharing the video alleging that it was an act of provocation in Saharanpur.
Sharing the video, a user named Rahul Singh (ساحل سنگھا) wrote, “An attempt is being made to disturb the atmosphere in Saharanpur, but @saharanpurpol @Uppolice @dgpup are all silent, even though people are roaming around in front of a mosque waving sticks and swords. In the @myogiadityanath government, there is open hooliganism in the name of Sanatan. All this is being done without any festival.”
Muhammad Imran Razvi another user shared the video and wrote, “The communal leader of the BJP, Yogi Adityanath, has turned the entire state into a hate zone with his frustrated and hateful mindset! An attempt is being made to disturb the atmosphere in Saharanpur for political gains, while the Sanghi police remain silent despite witnessing everything. Hindutva extremists.”

The DFRAC team found that the viral video is not from Saharanpur. The video shows a religious procession in a village in Haridwar district, Uttarakhand. Speaking to DFRAC, senior Saharanpur journalist Riaz Hashmi also confirmed that no such incident has recently taken place in Saharanpur.
To investigate the viral video, the DFRAC team first converted it into keyframes and conducted separate reverse-image searches of these frames using Google Lens. We found the video posted on the Instagram account of Urdu news channel Munsif TV. The post contained information in English, the Hindi translation of which is: “A major controversy has erupted in Haridwar, Uttarakhand. A video of a procession in front of the local Jama Masjid has gone viral, in which swords and sticks were openly brandished. The video allegedly shows Hindu activist Vishal Das and his associates targeting the Jama Masjid and publicly displaying weapons such as swords and sticks. The incident has drawn strong criticism and raised serious concerns about communal harmony and the local law-and-order situation.”
The same video was also found posted on a Facebook page named Sant Ram Vishal Das Ji Maharaj, where it was described as a video from the second day of the “Muhimdhari-Muhim Yatra.”
Another post described the event as “Muhim – a Dharma Jagran Yatra” and stated that religion teaches people about their duties and that protecting nature, described as a gift from God, is their responsibility.
We also found a post regarding the video on the official X account of Saharanpur Police, @saharanpurpol. According to the police, the viral video is from Daluwala village, Buggawala Police Station, Haridwar district, Uttarakhand. The police stated that the video was recorded on September 2, 2026, in Daluwala village and has no connection with the recent incident in Saharanpur. They further cautioned people against linking the video to the Saharanpur incident and spreading misleading information on social media, warning that legal action would be taken against those circulating misleading posts or information.
The DFRAC team also contacted senior Saharanpur journalist Riaz Hashmi regarding the video. He told DFRAC that no such incident has recently taken place in Saharanpur.
Conclusion:
The DFRAC fact-check establishes that the viral video is not from Saharanpur. It is from a religious procession held in Haridwar district, Uttarakhand, on September 2, 2026. Therefore, the claim that the video shows Hindus taking out a procession in front of a mosque in Saharanpur is misleading.
