Did a Burqa clad Muslim woman throw eggs at Shri Ram’s poster? Read – Fact Check

A video has been shared on social media as Sambhaji Nagar in Maharashtra. This video has been shared with the claim that a woman wearing a burqa got down from her scooty and threw an egg at Shri Ram’s poster. This video has also been posted from the Twitter handle of media organizations like Sudarshan News.
Posting this video, Sudarshan News wrote – “Where is this much poison coming from? Why does the burqa-clad woman hate Lord Shri Ram so much? Parked the scooty on the road and then threw eggs on the picture of Lord Shri Ram. The incident is from Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar in Maharashtra. The post has been viewed by more than a million people on Twitter.

Fact Check:
To fact-check the viral video, the DFRAC team visited the official Twitter account of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar Police. We received a police press release regarding this incident. In this press note written in Marathi language, it has been informed that the name of the woman who defaced the religious posters is Shilpa Ramrao Garud and she has been detained. It is being said that the mental condition of the woman is not good.
At the same time, in the context of this incident, police officer, Manoj Lohia, has also issued a statement. Police have requested people not to spread the misleading video, if any person is found doing such an act, legal action will be taken against them.
Conclusion:
It is clear from DFRAC’s fact check that it was not a Muslim woman who had thrown eggs at Shriram’s poster. The name of the woman who has executed this incident is Shilpa Ramrao Garud. Hence the claim of Sudarshan News and other users is false.
