The collage of two photos is being shared fiercely on social media. In the first picture, a woman is seen lying naked, while in the second picture, the dead bodies of some people are scattered on the ground. Social media users are sharing this collage with the claim that these pictures are from the time of the partition of India and Pakistan in 1947 when Hindus were tortured.
Sharing this collage, a user wrote – Friends, I am sharing some photographs of 1947, what a terrible time Hindus had seen, you people cannot even imagine. And how Congress hid it, what Nehru, Gandhi gave to the country.”
At the same time, many other social media users are sharing these pictures.
Fact Check:
To fact-check the viral collage, the DFRAC team edited and separated both the images and reverse-searched them. Here is a fact-check of both pictures separately.
Fact check of the first picture:
On reverse searching the photo of the woman, we found a report published in the Bengali language. It has been told in this report that during the 1971 war, Pakistani soldiers raped Bengali women. In this report, the brutality and gruesomeness of Pakistani soldiers on the people of Bangladesh have also been written in detail.
Fact check of the second picture:
We did a reverse search to fact-check the second picture of the viral collage. We found a report from CNN News . It has been told in this report that this picture is from 1946 during the Hindu-Muslim riots in Kolkata.
Conclusion:
After the fact check of both the pictures of the collage, it is clear that the claim of the social media users is wrong, as the photo of the woman lying naked was raped by Pakistani soldiers in Bangladesh in 1971. Whereas the second picture is not of 1947 but of 1946.
