A claim about Hollywood actor Morgan Freeman is getting viral on social media sites. Social media users are claiming that Morgan accepted Islam during the FIFA World Cup in Qatar. There is a group on Facebook called “Group of fans of Dr. Zakir Naik Sahab”. On this group, a user shared a picture of Morgan and captioned- “Famous Hollywood actor Morgan Freeman converted to Islam. ماشاءاللہ #ChallengeChallenge.”

To analyze the claim of accepting Islam by Morgan Freeman, the team of DFRAC searched some keywords on google. We found news coverage on several news websites. It has been told in this coverage that Morgan Freeman made a great statement during the opening ceremony of the FIFA World Cup. Morgan Freeman’s dialogue with Qatari youth Ghanim Al Muftah won the hearts of the people. You can see the media coverage here.

At the same time, we did not find any news published in the mainstream media regarding Morgan Freeman’s acceptance of Islam in Qatar. 

Conclusion:

It is clear from the fact check of DFRAC that Morgan Freeman has not accepted Islam. He was present at the opening ceremony of the FIFA World Cup. Therefore, the claim of social media users is wrong.
