Mobeen Ahmad September 23, 2022 3 min read

Various fake and misleading claims are made on social media sites. It has now been claimed by social media users that Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya is an invader.

A user named Prabodh Singh Sanatani criticized communist party of India ‘Marxist’ (CPIM) leader Sitaram Yechury in his tweet, writing “ if the train is run in the name of  #Ramayana_Express is communal-Sitaram Yechury. When Ramayana Express is communal in Ram’s country, @SitaramYechury, how is the train being run in the name of invader and aggressor #Hazrat Nizamuddin Express secular? @Ajodhya1994 @spsinghnew @vijay_path” (English Translation).

Similarly, Shivendra Lodhi also wrote in his tweet, “Mulsim were invaders. They are not native. Beginning with Muhammad Bin Qasim. Not only Nizamuddin station but other places should also be renamed.

Fact Check:

To verify the viral claim DFRAC searched the internet with certain keywords and first tried to know whether Sitaram Yechury has given any statement regarding  Ramayana  Express, but the team did not find any such news. Then we searched Ramayana Express. We got several reports on this.

On November 2021 a report by Aaj Tak published under the headline, “IRTC’s Shri Ramayana Yatra began today, know all the details including fare”, states that Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) promotes religious tourism. The Ramayan circuit journey started from Delhi”s Safdarjung railway station. The train to no less than a five-star hotel. For this, RS 82,950 per person for 2AC and RS 1,02,095 for the 1AC category will have to be paid.

After this DFRAC searched about Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya with the help of certain keywords whether he was an invader or not. Meanwhile, an article published on the website  Dawat-e -Islami states that the name of  Nizamuddin Auliya is Muhammad, and Laqab (nickname) is Shaykh-ul-Mashaikh, Nizamuddin and Mehboob-e-Ilahi. Quoting the books Mehboob-Ilahi Page-90-91 and Shan-e-Auliya Page-883, he was born on 27 Safar-ul-Muzaffar 634 in Badaun district of Uttar Pradesh. According to the Islamic calendar, 1444 Hijri is going on, that is, 810 years ago. Nizamuddin Auliya came to Delhi as a child.

According to the information given on the Wikipedia page, in 1269, When Nizamuddin was 20 years old.  He reached Ajodhan (now pakpattan sharif, which is located in Pakistan) and became a disciple of the famous Sufi elderly Faridduddin Ganj-i-Shakar, who was commonly known as Baba Farid.

He used to spend his time in Ajodhan with Baba Farid in the month of Ramzan every year. On his third visit to Ajodhan, Baba Farid appointed him as his successor. He was the fourth Chishti saint in India.  As soon as he returned from there, he got the news of Baba Farid’s death.

Conclusion-

It is clear from the analysis of DFRAC that Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya was not an invader. His birthplace and workplace both are in India. He was a great Sufi elder, whom Muslims all over the world remember with great respect.
