A piece of news is going massively viral on the internet regarding Qatar guidelines for LGBTQ in FIFA. community. Sharing the news whoever is seen lifting the LGBTQ flag there will be arrested for 7 or 11 years. Further, a user named Kunafa tweeted, “Qatar spokesperson: “whoever lifts the LGBTQ flag in the world cup, will be arrested for 7 or 11 years, we’re here in an Islamic country you should respect our religion, beliefs, and culture.”
Similarly, many other users have shared this news.
On key word search we found a report of AP news of April 2, 2022 with the title Qatari official: Rainbow flags may be taken to protect fans.
In the report it is mentioned that Rainbow flags could be taken from fans at the World Cup in Qatar. This is done to protect them from being attacked for promoting gay rights. According to Associated Press AP- Al Ansari is against the overt promotion of LGBTQ freedoms as symbolized by the rainbow flag that FIFA and World Cup organizers had previously said would be welcome across Qatar’s eight stadiums.
“If he (a fan) raised the rainbow flag and I took it from him. It’s not because I really want to, really, take it, to really insult him, but to protect him,” Al Ansari told the AP. “Because if it’s not me, somebody else around him might attack (him). I cannot guarantee the behavior of the whole people. And I will tell him: ‘Please, no need to really raise that flag at this point.
Therefore, the news that whoever is seen lifting the LGBTQ flag in the world cup, will be arrested is misleading. The flag of LGBTQ may be taken to protect them from any attack. And, there is no official news that if any one is lifting LGBTQ Flag will be jailed.
