A video circulating widely on social media shows female students holding placards and protesting. It is being claimed that the footage is from Delhi University’s women’s college, Miranda House, where students are demonstrating due to a food shortage caused by an LPG crisis.

On X (formerly Twitter), a verified user, Varun Choudhary, shared the video, suggesting it reflects an “LPG crisis” at the hostel, with students struggling to access proper meals.

Another verified user echoed a similar claim, stating that already poor food quality had worsened due to the alleged gas shortage.
Fact Check:
To verify the claim, relevant keyword searches were conducted. A report by the Press Trust of India (PTI), published on April 1, 2026, revealed that students at Miranda House were protesting against the deteriorating quality of food in the hostel mess.

The report further noted that the student organization AISA supported the protest, alleging that students were being served substandard food. The video also shows students banging plates as part of their demonstration.

Additionally, a fact check by the Press Information Bureau (PIB) clarified that there is no LPG crisis on campus. Hostel kitchens are equipped with PNG connections, ensuring uninterrupted cooking facilities. PIB confirmed that the protest was solely related to food quality issues.
Our team contacted Miranda House Warden Jaya Rawat. He also dismissed the LPG crisis claim, stating that the protest was about poor food quality in the hostel mess and not due to any gas shortage.
Conclusion:
The fact check confirms that while the video is original, the claim linking it to an LPG crisis is false and misleading. The students were protesting against poor food quality, not a shortage of cooking gas.
