A video is widely being shared on social media claiming that the Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav had insulted the deputy chief minister of Uttar Pradesh Keshav Prasad Maurya.
In the clip, Akhilesh Yadav can be heard saying, “Who made him the Deputy CM, he should be sent back to do clean the drains”
Social media users have shared the video and called it an insult to the deputy chief minister. “This is an insult not only to Keshav Prasad Maurya Ji but to the entire Maurya society.
Akhilesh Yadav should apologize to the public” reads the message.
Fact Check:
Looking at the video from 40:50 mins you’ll find the actual footage.
Akhilesh Yadav commented on Dinesh Sharma, who is the current Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh along with Keshav Prasad Maurya.
Here, the statement “Deputy CM should be sent back to look after the drains ” is made for Dinesh Sharma and not for Keshav Prasad Maurya.
Since Dinesh Sharma was previously the Mayor of Lucknow, his responsibilities were to appoint and oversee municipal managers.
Therefore, the statement “Deputy CM should be sent back to look after the drains” is false and misleading.
