A video is circulating online claiming that the ADGP of Ladakh stated he arrested Sonam Wangchuk on the instructions of the Indian Defence Minister without any evidence, and further apologised to Kashmiris for doing so.

Upon investigation, we found the claim to be fake. The original video was originally shared on the official X handle of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. In that video, the speaker urged the youth of Ladakh not to be influenced by anti-social elements. He also warned them against being used as instruments for others’ agendas that could jeopardise their future.

In the full video posted on the YouTube channel of The New Indian Express, the police chief alleged that Sonam Wangchuk is being investigated for alleged links with Pakistan.

Nowhere in the complete video, the ADGP Ladakh be heard speaking the viral claimed statements.
