An image has gone viral claiming that a man from Chattisgarh married his 24-year-old daughter. The picture is being shared on social media with the claim: “Chhattisgarh – 52-year-old Satish Singh married his daughter, said it is better if the household property stays at home”.
Other social media users also shared videos on Facebook, YouTube, etc.
Fact Check:
We conducted a fact check at DFRAC, and it was revealed that the news was fake. No such media reports, local and national were found to prove this claim.
On the contrary, upon investigation, we found that the video on which the claim is based dates back to 2020 and was first published on TikTok. The viral video has sparked outrage and debate across social media. The video shows a young woman introducing her father as her husband, claiming they got married in a traditional ceremony. Standing beside her, her father confirms their relationship and asks, “What’s the problem?”
In the original video, published on Facebook, at 47th second, a pop-up shows that states that this video is purely made for entertainment purposes only. This video has no intention to disrespect or defame based on race, color, ancestry, national origin, ethnic group identification, age, religion, marital or parental status, physical or mental disability, sex, sexual, orientation, gender, gender identity or expression.”

The fact check clarifies that the claim is baseless and no media reports were found to support the claim. However, the claim is based on a video published on TikTok in 2020 that was a publicity stunt. Thus the claim that a man from Chattisgarh married his 24-year-old daughter is fake.
