Claim

A screenshot of a news report by a news website DNA is shared on social media. The headline of this news report reads, “Gujarat Board results: Zero students passed Class 10 in 157 schools.” It is shared by former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and one-time Uttar Pradesh CM Akhilesh Yadav.

While, sharing this screenshot of a news report, former Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal wrote: “This is the Gujarat model. This is the BJP model that they want to implement across the entire country. This is the double-engine model. They want to keep the whole country uneducated. Just name one state where they are in power and haven’t ruined the education system. Under this very model, they are now trying to destroy the education system in Delhi as well.”

In fact, the original tweet was made by former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav. Meanwhile, Kejriwal had merely quoted the tweet posted by Yadav. While, sharing the screenshot of news report, Former Uttar Pradesh CM wrote, “The Gujarat model has completely failed… In Gujarat, not a single student passed the Class 10 board exams in 157 schools. Remove BJP, save the future!”

Akhilesh Yadav's tweet criticizing the Gujarat education model, featuring a screenshot of a DNA India news article headline. The tweet, written in Hindi, states that the Gujarat model has failed, as not a single student passed the Class 10 board exams in 157 schools across the state. It concludes with a political statement: "भाजपा हटायेंगे, भविष्य बचायेंगे" (Remove BJP, save the future). The news headline in the image reads: "Gujarat Board results: Zero students passed Class 10 in 157 schools," with additional details stating that out of 165,690 students who appeared for the exams, only 27,446 passed. The tweet was posted on April 12, 2025, and had over 564.7K views at the time. The image highlights poor Class 10 results under the Gujarat Board, sparking political commentary on the education system and governance in Gujarat under BJP rule.

Fact Check

To investigate the claim, the DFRAC did a keyword search for the news report. This search led to a news report by DNA. This news report is nearly two years old. It was published on May 25, 2023.

Screenshot of a DNA India news article dated May 25, 2023, with the headline "Gujarat Board results: Zero students passed Class 10 in 157 schools." The subtext reveals that out of 165,690 students who appeared for the Gujarat Board Class 10 exams, only 27,446 passed. The article is credited to the DNA Web Team and edited by Vaibhav Tiwari. Below the text, there is a photo of a classroom filled with students taking an exam. The students, both boys and girls, are seated in wooden benches with attached desks, focused on writing their papers in a typical Indian examination hall setting. This article highlights a major education crisis in Gujarat, raising concerns about the state's school education system and the performance of students in the SSC (Secondary School Certificate) exams. The content is a part of the broader debate on education quality in India and calls attention to the need for academic reforms in government and private schools alike.

The news published by DNA in 2023 stated that: “272 schools reported a 100 percent result. 1084 schools reported less than 30 percent pass percentage. 157 schools logged zero pass percentages.”

Meanwhile, the Gujarat 10th Board results are yet to be released. According to a news report by Times Now, the Gujarat Board class 10th results will be released on May 11, 2025. However, this is a tentative date.

Conclusion

Therefore, the fact check by DFRAC clearly shows that the Gujarat Board Class 10th result has not been released yet. According to media reports, the results are expected to be announced on May 11, 2025. Meanwhile, politicians Akhilesh Yadav and Arvind Kejriwal shared an old news report from May 2023 on the Gujarat Board Class 10th results.

Hence, the claim made by the political leaders is misleading.
