A press release of Dr. Mohammad Javed, MP from Kishanganj and candidate of the INDIA alliance, is going viral on social media. In this press release, it has been claimed that Mohammad Javed has supported AIMIM candidate Akhtarul Iman for the Lok Sabha elections. This press release has been written on the letterhead of the Bihar Congress Committee.

It is written in this press release – “I, Dr. Javed, Congress candidate from Kishanganj, want to tell you that Muslim votes are getting divided among themselves in Kishanganj and BJP will directly benefit from it. Therefore, Congress and RJD have decided to support AIMIM candidate Akhtarul Iman this time. I appeal to all of you to make Akhtarul Iman successful by pressing the button on the kite mark on 26th April to defeat BJP and JDU in Kishanganj.”

Fact Check:

The DFRAC team looked at the social media accounts of Mohammad Javed to verify the viral claim. We found a video uploaded on his social media, in which Mohammad Javed has termed the viral press release as fake. While sharing this video, it has been written on Mohammad Javed’s Facebook page – “A fake letter is being circulated in my name which is a blatant lie and an attempt to defame Congress and me. You people are requested not to pay attention to this and vote for Congress. I will take legal action against these people.”
