A claim has gone viral on social media targeting the Kashmir region. Kashmir Media Service, a Pakistan news Digital Platform, shared the news. The news claimed that – “Indian soldiers arrested 3 innocent Kashmiri youths in Reasi district”
Similar news was also shared on its Urdu platform.
The article further claimed that” The troops also snatched Rs 50,000 from them.”
Fact Check
We investigated the viral claim. On searching the relevant keywords, we landed on the media reports of the Times of India and Hindustan Times.
Times of India reported, “In successful joint anti-insurgency operation, security forces arrested three terror suspects and recovered unaccounted-for cash in the Reasi district of Jammu & Kashmir”
The report further stated that the arrest occurred as a combined army and police team intercepted an SUV heading to Mahore town based on specific intelligence. The three occupants were apprehended, and undisclosed cash was confiscated.
Hindustan Times also mentioned the incident – “As a follow up to the arrest of two terror operatives (OGWs) in Budhal area of Rajouri district on December 6 and based on confirmed inputs, the suspects were intercepted at a joint army- police checkpost”
Conclusion:
Thus, the fact check shows that the viral claim is misleading. No mention of Kashmiri Youth was found in any of the media reports.
