An image is getting viral on social media platforms. The image shows two men standing in uniform. Users on social media are claiming that two men in a viral photo are the miscreants of Manipur sexual violence case.
The horrifying video of two Kuki women being paraded naked in the field has shaken the conscience of the entire nation and it demands immediate justice for the two victims. Manipur Police is in full-fledged action and has arrested six culprits so far.
Subhashini Ali, member of Polit Bureau, Communist Party of India (Marxist), and Former MP from Kanpur posted an image on Twitter and wrote: “They are the Manipur accused. Recognise them by their clothes”.
A user named Hashim Salam also posted the same image and wrote: “They are the Manipur accused. You can recognize them by their clothes easily ,no confusion”.
Several users also shared this image on the Internet with the same caption.
Fact-Check
To investigate the claim of viral image, the Dfrac team reverse searched some keyframes connected to this image on Google. We found this image on Facebook posted by Chidanada Singh, State Vice President of BJP Manipur on October 17, 2022, with the caption: “Path Sanchalan, RSS Imphal Jila, yesterday 16 October with my son Ch Sachinanda n cousin Ashoka”. Not only this, but several images can also be seen beside the viral image, witnessing and supporting the complete caption.
In addition to that, Anupam K Singh, Chief Sub-Editor of Opindia_In, retweeted the tweet of Subhashini Ali, in a part of which, he wrote: “Now there is no work left in his life except spreading lies. The person seen in the picture is Chidanand Singh, state vice-president of the BJP in Manipur, along with his minor son. My appeal is to @KanoongoPriyank ji that NCPCR should take action against this leftist woman. Chidanand Singh or his family have nothing to do with this matter even remotely. She is not only defaming him but is defaming the entire RSS organization”.
Conclusion
The Dfrac’s Fact-Check proves that claim of social media users regarding viral image is misleading since the viral image depicts State Vice President of BJP Chidanada Singh and his son, who are not associated with the case of sexual violence in Manipur.
