Amid the ongoing Iran–Israel–US conflict, a video is being widely circulated on social media with the claim that Hezbollah has killed a large number of Israeli soldiers in southern Lebanon. However, the claim is false. While sharing the video on X, a user wrote: “🚨‼️ BREAKING 💥 In southern Lebanon, Hezbollah reportedly killed a large number of Israeli soldiers.”

Fact Check:

Upon investigation, the claim was found to be misleading. Keyframes extracted from the viral video were analyzed using reverse image search tools, including InVID. This analysis led to earlier instances of the same footage, indicating that the video predates the current claim.

The video was also shared by verified accounts on X (formerly Twitter), including Clash Report and WarNewsPL, on April 25, 2026. While Clash Report described the footage as Russian soldiers attempting to clear mines, WarNewsPL captioned it as “Russian soldiers versus a Ukrainian mine.” These descriptions clearly establish that the video is unrelated to Hezbollah or Israel.

Further verification led to credible media coverage of the same visuals from April 2024. A report published by CNN on April 27, 2024, identified the incident as a failed mine clearance attempt involving Russian soldiers, where an explosive device detonated unexpectedly during handling, resulting in injuries. Similarly, the Daily Star reported the same footage on April 26, 2024, attributing it to Russian troops engaged in mine disposal operations.

Conclusion:

The claim is misleading. The viral video does not show Hezbollah killing Israeli soldiers in southern Lebanon. In fact, it is an old clip from April 2024 depicting a failed mine clearance operation involving Russian soldiers.
