Fact Check

To investigate the viral video, the DFRAC conducted a keyword search using terms relevant to the incident. After doing this relevant news reports appeared from two Bengali-language news sites.

A news report by The Wall.in, published on December 26, 2024, states a bomb was recovered from the railway tracks in front of Dapahahat Chatkata locality, near Suti’s Nimtiita Railway Station in Murshidabad. While passing by the railway line, local residents saw two miscreants placing a bomb on the tracks. The local residents quickly informed the police.

News report from December 2024 tells that this incident occurred in Murshidabad in West Bengal. This is an old incident and not a recent one.

Moreover, the railway police quickly reached the spot and recovered two bombs from the railway line. The police stated that the names of the arrested individuals are Madan Kundu and Sagar Das.

Another report, published on December 26, 2024, provided the same details for the incident. However, there was no mention of any affiliation of these two individuals with the RSS. The report by Aaj Kal includes a statement from a police official, which says: “Preliminary investigation revealed that the two youths, under the influence of alcohol, placed the bomb near the railway track. However, a major accident was averted as the bomb did not explode.”

Another report on a Bengali-language news website, tells the similar tale of the arrest of two youth in Murshidabad from December 2024.

Conclusion

Hence, the fact check by DFRAC clearly shows that the viral clips are of any recent incident. This incident took place three months back, in December 2024. Therefore, the claims made on social media are misleading.
