Viral ABP News infographic quoting Mohan Bhagwat on Brahmin-Dalit marriages is doctored

Viral ABP News Infographic Quoting Mohan Bhagwat on Brahmin-Dalit Marriages Is Doctored

An infographic from ABP News is going viral on social media. In this infographic, a quote is attributed to Mohan Bhagwat, saying, “Casteism will end if Brahmin daughters are married into Dalit families.”

While sharing this infographic, a user named Aavesh Tiwari wrote, “Mohan Bhagwat is asking Brahmin daughters to marry into Dalit households to end casteism. Meanwhile, the Sanghis are inciting Rajputs to attack Dalits. So, abusive, hardcore Hindutva Brahmins, step forward. No instructions for Rajput brothers — remain in status quo.”

Image showing a viral doctored infographic falsely attributed to ABP News, featuring RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat with a Hindi caption claiming 'Brahmin girls marrying Dalits will end casteism.' The image is labeled 'MISLEADING' by fact-checking organization DFRAC, indicating the quote is fabricated. The graphic appears on two separate Twitter posts by users Dr. Om Sudha and Awesh Tiwari. The image features a watermark of ABP Live and is designed to look like a legitimate news broadcast, though it has been debunked as false information by DFRAC.

Another user named Om Sudha also shared this infographic and questioned whether it is genuine.

Screenshot of a tweet by Dr. Om Sudha posted on April 21, 2025, featuring an alleged ABP Live graphic with a photo of RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and a controversial Hindi quote attributed to him, which reads 'ब्राह्मणों की बेटी दलितों के घर ब्याहने से मिटेगा जातिवाद' (Translation: 'Casteism will end if Brahmin daughters marry into Dalit families'). The tweet questions the authenticity of the news with the caption 'क्या ये खबर सही है?' meaning 'Is this news true?' The post has over 10.2K views and includes interaction metrics like likes and retweets. The image is widely shared but has been flagged as misleading.

Fact Check

Upon investigation, we found the claim to be misleading. The DFRAC team investigated the viral infographic by checking all social media handles of ABP News. We found a similar infographic featuring Mohan Bhagwat, where he talks about ending casteism. However, there is no mention of marrying Brahmin daughters to Dalits.

Instagram post by ABP News featuring RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat speaking into a microphone, accompanied by a quote in Hindi that reads: 'एक मंदिर, एक कुआं, एक श्मशान से मिटेगा जातिवाद' (Translation: 'Casteism will end with one temple, one well, and one crematorium'). The caption explains that Bhagwat urged the Hindu community to eliminate caste discrimination by embracing equality, advocating for shared access to religious and communal spaces. The post includes hashtags like #MohanBhagwat, #RSS, #Casteism, #SocialUnity, and #India, and has garnered over 12,000 likes. This official ABP News graphic presents the authentic quote, countering earlier viral misinformation.

The text in the actual infographic reads: “Casteism will end with one temple, one well, and one cremation ground.”
When we examined the text closely, we noticed differences in the font style and size, which can be clearly seen in the collage provided.

Moreover, our team checked ABP News’s website and social media in the context of the viral infographic, but we found no such news.

Conclusion

DFRAC’s fact-check clearly shows that the text in ABP News’s viral infographic has been altered.
The original infographic from ABP News reads, “Casteism will end with one temple, one well, and one cremation ground.” Still, it was edited to say, “Casteism will end if Brahmin daughters are married into Dalit families.”

Therefore, the users’ claims are misleading
