The 2025 Prayag Maha Kumbh Mela, also referred to as the 2025 Prayag Kumbh Mela, is the ongoing iteration of the Kumbh Mela. It is scheduled from 13 January to 26 February 2025, at the Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, India. This event marks the completion of a 12-Kumbh Mela cycle and is officially termed a Maha Kumbh Mela, spanning 45 days.
Amid this backdrop, a claim along with a video has been widely shared which shows a bus overturned, with passengers falling into a nearby lake while a large crowd gathers at the scene. Social media users are claiming that this incident occurred at the Maha Kumbh 2025 in Prayagraj.
Sharing the video one user on Instagram claimed,” A bus going to Maha Kumbh fell in a drain and 10 kids and men were found dead “(Translated into English)

Other users were also found sharing similar claims which can be viewed here and here.
Fact Check
DFRAC Team investigated the viral video by putting the Keyframes from the video into Google reverse image search. A reverse image search led us to the same video shared by Pakistani media outlet HUM News on November 2, 2024, with the caption: “Breaking News from Tablighi Ijtema – The bus fell into a drain in Lahore.”

Additionally, a report by the Pakistani news outlet Express Tribune, dated November 4, 2024, states that a bus carrying over 70 men returning from the annual Tablighi Jamaat congregation in Raiwind plunged into a drain, injuring 29 passengers. The incident happened on a narrow road where the bus’s tyre slipped off the edge, causing it to lose control and veer into the drain. Two buses were travelling parallel when the accident occurred.
Heavy machinery, including cranes, was dispatched to the scene to aid the rescue

Furthermore, we also searched for reports of any bus accident involving a bus traveling to Prayagraj. We discovered that a bus returning from the Maha Kumbh had recently crashed on the Nashik-Gujarat highway, resulting in seven fatalities. However, this video is not related to that incident.

Conclusion
Thus, the fact check confirms that the viral video has been falsely shared. It has no connection to the Maha Kumbh Mela and originates from Pakistan.
