Fact-Check

To verify the claims regarding Rahul Gandhi’s viral video, the Dfrac team converted this video into some keyframes and reverse-searched it on Google. Meanwhile, we discovered the same video on the official YouTube channel of Congress with the caption “Dilli Mein Chole Bhature Aur Mohabbat Ka Sharbat” that was uploaded on April 23, 2023.

The video was 21 minutes long and the viral part could be seen at 12 minutes 40 seconds  in the video.

Significantly, according to an article published by Times of India on August 7, 2023 , The holy month of sawan 2023 begins on July 4  and ends on August 31. It indicates that Rahul Gandhi’s viral video of enjoying chicken was shot before the month of Sawan.

Moreover,  several  media houses covered the Rahul Gandhi”s visit to Old Delhi  to local street food. Navbharat Times uploaded a video report on Youtube with the caption: “Rahul Gandhi reached the streets of Delhi and drank Sharbat E Mohabbat. Delhi Street Food”

Conclusion

The Dfrac Fact-Check proves that the viral video was posted three months ago, on April 22, 2023, before Sawan began. Hence the claim of social media users regarding Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is misleading.
