One of the most abominable things for followers to Islam is hurling insult at Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW). In Muslim-dominated countries, this is called blasphemy and has been punishable, ranging from life term to death sentence.
Any dishonourable remark made against Prophet Muhammad influences 1.8 billion Muslims of the world. Muslims make up of around one fourth of the world population. It means every fourth person of the world will register his or her protest at insult to their beloved Prophet.
No other issue warrants such a vehement public reaction as the case of blasphemy. In fact this issue has the potential of moulding the direction of geo politics, and it does it very often.
Recently, the DFRAC has unearthed an international working to defame India in the name of protecting the dignity of Prophet (International campaign against India in the guise of Prophet Muhammad). It was an expose on الھیئة العالمیة لنصرة نبي الإسلام or International Organisation to Support the Prophet of Islam. This organisation is running an international campaign named ‘Support Prophet Muhammad’ especially targeting western countries. In recent years, members of this outfit have also fired salvos at India and its right wing government.
We have discussed in our earlier report that how India was made a target of malicious propaganda after then BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma made obnoxious remark on Prophet during a live TV show. A campaign was also run in Arab and Gulf countries that Indian products must be boycotted and Indian envoys be expelled.
In the second part of this detailed report, we are investigating the cyber activities of three key figures of the anti-India international campaign. They have been damaging the image of India in guise of protecting the honour of Prophet. All three of them belong to hardline Muslim Brotherhood group. Muslim Brotherhood aims to establish a global caliphate. It was founded by a school teacher named Hasan Al-Banna in 1928 in Egypt.
Brotherhood has umpteen number of branches scattered around the world. These branches operate under various pseudo identities, and even don’t shy away from adopting violent measures to meet their goals. Brotherhood is also known as the ideological force behind the birth of terrorist organisations like Al Qaeda and ISIS. Many countries like Bahrain, Egypt, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Syria and the United Arab Emirates have banned the Muslim Brotherhood labelling it as a terrorist organisation.
1। Dr Ali al-Qaradaghi
Dr Ali al-Qaradaghi is the secretary-general of the Qatar-based International Union of Muslim Scholars (IUMS), an organisation previously led by Yusuf al-Qaradawi and linked to the Muslim Brotherhood.
al-Qaradaghi is the main pillar of anti-India campaign in the shadow of protecting honour of Prophet. He is not only aggravating hatred against India, he is painting Hindus in dark hues.
2। Dr Sheikh Mohamed Al-Sagheer
Egyptian politician and scholar Dr Muhammad Al-Sagheer served as an advisor to the Egyptian Minister of Religious Endowments and an MP under former President Mohammed Morsi’s Muslim Brotherhood government. He has allegedly been associated with violent elements. He had openly supported Al Qaeda terrorist Abdul Rehman. Rehman was accused of assisting the 1993 World Trade Centre bombing that had killed 6 people and injured 1,042. In his Facebook post, Sagheer had called Rehman a mujahid (holy warrior). He had lamented his death as a loss of an important Islamic scholar.
Al-Sagheer is a major component of anti-India campaign. His campaign targets not only India, but even Hindus. He is also against India’s relations with Muslim countries.
Dr Al-Sagheer had also launched a drive against France, apart from calling out India. He ran several hashtags on Twitter against India and France. Among these hashtags, some asked for boycott of French products and some called for expulsion of Indian ambassadors from Muslim countries. The graph below will illustrate this:
In his anti-India propaganda, Dr Al-Sagheer tweeted maximum on #Expulsion_of_Hindu_Labour. On this hashtag, he tweeted and retweeted for at least 190 times.
Overall, Dr Al-Sagheer’s tweets on France and India are 12.3% and 7.14% respectively. In these tweets, even thoughts of Muslim Brotherhood’s chief ideologue Shaykh Yusuf Al-Qaradawi had been discussed. A separate hashtag was created on him.
3। Muhammad Al-Hasan bin Al-Diddu Al-Shanqiti
The Islamic movement in Mauritania has a stamp of Muslim Brotherhood of Egypt. The Brotherhood ideology is starkly evident in political and religious circles of Mauritania. Muhammad Al-Hasan bin Al-Diddu Al-Shanqiti is a leading scholar of Mauritania. He is affiliated to Muslim Brotherhood and many of his speeches have been uploaded on the group’s website.
He is also the secretary general of the International Union of Muslim Scholars (IUMS). He is very active in anti-India hatred drive on Twitter. He has appealed Muslims in Mauritania and all over the world to boycott India.
He had demanded the expulsion of Hindus from the Gulf countries. In fact, he once made an objectionable comment on Hinduism.
The graph below shows the timeline of Sheikh Dadow’s tweets since the account was created in March 2012. In the beginning several tweets have been done from this account. The highest number of tweets was made on May 30, 2017, with about 50 tweets in a day. Afterwards the timeline became fairly stable.
Apart from this, Sheikh Dado has tweeted the maximum 21.7% in the year 2018, followed by the maximum tweets in the year 2020 and 2019. The graph of his tweet can be seen below.
Conclusion:
The honour of Prophet Muhammad has always an emotional subject for Muslims throughout the globe. But, the Muslim Brotherhood is steering its own agenda in the garb of protecting Prophet’s honour. One of the targets of the Brotherhood is India. Besides India, it is also running a slander campaign against Hindus working in the Gulf. The hardline group is running its propaganda through its top clerical leadership.
