A video is circulated on social media raising concerns about an alleged incident where a doctor was attacked while conducting a medical examination on a woman wearing a hijab. In the video, an individual can be seen assaulting the doctor, prompting outrage. According to online claims, the husband of the woman attacked the doctor after he requested her to remove her hijab for the medica check-up.

Sharing this video, a verified account named ‘Megh Updates’ wrote-”Viral video from Spain claims, A local doctor was attacked by a radical migrant husband just for asking his wife to remove hijab for medical examination.“

Fact Check

To fact-check the viral video, the DFRAC team first converted the video into multiple frames, then reverse-searched it. We found a report from www.rt.com. According to this report, the incident took place on 21 September 2021 in Nizhnevartovsk, Siberia. Where a man who badly thrashed a male doctor (dermatologist) after the doctor described his wife’s skin as beautiful.

In another media report also, the doctor was beaten up by the husband for calling his wife’s skin beautiful. The report states that the hijab-wearing Muslim woman told her husband, Bakhridin Azimov, that doctor Vladimir Zhirnokalev called her skin “beautiful”. Dr Zhirnokalev, however, said that he only asked the woman to show her elbows, stomach and back and did not ask her to undress.

one more media report explained the entire event.

Conclusion

It is clear from DFRAC’s fact check that the viral video is not from Spain but from Nizhnevartovsk in Siberia and the incident is from the year 2021. Hence the claim being made by social media users is misleading.
