A video is becoming increasingly viral on social media. In this video, it can be seen that some people are attacking a man with knives. After this, they kill him by pelting him with stones. Social media users are claiming that a temple priest preparing for Mahashivratri Puja in Rajasthan was attacked by Muslims and killed.
Sharing this video, a user wrote: “Hindu society in danger in Rajasthan!! Attack of Muslim fundamentalists on Mahadev temple!! The fundamentalists also attacked the priest and his family at the temple. Priests were preparing for Mahashivaratri. The incident of Selaswar Mahadev Temple, Dudu, Rajasthan.” (English Translation)
At the same time, many other users also shared this video with similar claims.
Fact Check:
To fact-check the viral video, the DFRAC team converted the video into several frames, then did a reverse search. We got several news regarding the video. Apart from this, many social media users have shared video and cleared that the CCTV footage was of the murder of Advocate Jugraj Chauhan in Jodhpur, Rajasthan.
At the same time, many media outlets, including ANI and News 24, also shared the CCTV footage of the murder of lawyer Jugraj Chauhan in Jodhpur.
Conclusion:
It is clear from DFRAC’s fact check that the claim made on social media was false. The viral video was of the murder of Jodhpur’s advocate Jugraj Chauhan. Social media users were giving this murder a communal colour and calling it an attack on a temple priest by Muslims.
