A video of some people throwing stones on a military vehicle is going viral on social media. On instagram a user named ‘ram_bhakt_9___’ posted the video on 6 August 2025. The caption of the video reads (Translated in English) “These people are ***, who are throwing stones at the soldier’s vehicles. They are brave soldiers of India, all of them will be handled by the army soon.”
A similar video with a similar claim was shared on facebook as well by the user ‘Vinod Foujal’.
Fact Check
We at DFRAC investigated the viral video with its claim and found that it is misleading. When we searched the key frames of the viral video on google images, we came across a similar video posted by an account on X. An account named ‘_fels1’ posted the video on 9 July 2025. In the video the location of the video mentioned is Nairobi, Kenya.
We searched a little more and found a video on Youtube with similar footage. The video was posted on the channel ‘MutembeiTV’ on 25 June 2025. The channel ‘Mutembei TV’ is a leading channel in Kenya and Africa. The caption of the video says “THEY’RE DEAD! UUUII THEY’RE DEAD! TOTAL CHAOS IN THIKA ROAD AS GEN Z BADLY INJURED!!”
The key words from the caption of the video were then searched on Google and came across an article by ‘Allafrica’ published on 25 June 2025. The headline of the title is “Kenya: 12 Killed, 400 Injured in Gen Z Anniversary Protests Across Kenya”. The article informs that At least twelve people were killed and more than 400 others wounded on Wednesday (25 June 2025) as Gen Z-led protests marking the first anniversary of the 2024 anti-Finance Bill demonstrations spiralled into nationwide violence.
Conclusion
Hence, we can conclude that the claim with the viral video is misleading. The video belongs to an incident in Kenya, where Gen-Z protested marking the first anniversary of the 2024 anti-Finance Bill. It is not of people throwing stones at an Indian Army vehicle.
