A Muslim man was beaten up by women for molesting Hindu students. Read- Fact Check

Mobeen Ahmad February 10, 2023 2 min read

A video is getting viral on social media. In this video, it can be seen that some women are holding a man and they are also beating him naked.

A user named Raghav Chaturvedi shared the video on Twitter and Caption: “ A Muslim youth molested a Hindu woman in the market.”

Similarly, another user captioned the video, “It is heavy to tease Hindu women in the Market of Meerut, this girl, Nari Shakti”.

Fact Check:

To know the reality of the viral video, the DFRAC team converted the video to the first keyframe and performed a reverse image search. We found news published by several media houses in this regard.

The print published a news item on January 21, 2020, titled “Man stripped naked, beaten for ‘teasing’ minor girls in viral video is not Muslim” (The man who is stripped naked and beaten up for ‘molesting’ minor girls in the viral video is not a Muslim)

Yashveer Raghav, who describes himself as a BJP ‘media panelist’ in his Twitter bio, claimed that the accused is a Muslim.

Apart from this, we have been told in the news published by Dainik Bhaskar that a young man used to harass girls every day while sitting outside the school in Jain Bazar of Ambala city. He used to make dirty gestures and make obscene jokes about them. Upset by this, the students refused to go to school. When the family asked the reason for this, the students told the whole thing to the family, after which on Monday, the mother of a student followed the girls to know the truth. The women started beating this accused boy named Pawan by holding him red-handed. During this time, the women also took out a procession by making him completely naked.

According to amar ujala report, the accused was caught red-handed while doing obscene acts at Halwai Bazar Jain Bazar Chowk in Ambala city.

The DFRAC team found that the video with a similarly misleading claim had already gone viral on social media in June 2020.

Conclusion:

It is clear from media reports and DFRAC fact-check that the viral video is three years old. The accused, who molested school girls, is not a Muslim. The name of the accused is Pawan alias Sonu, so the claim of social media users is misleading.
