Is the Old video of the clash between Indian-Chinese soldiers going viral as Tawang? Read Fact-Check

Indian and Chinese troops clashed in Arunachal Pradesh’s Tawang sector on December 9. Some soldiers from both countries suffered minor injuries in this clash. At the same time, after this clash, many videos are getting viral on social media, which are being shared as a clash between the armies of China and India in Tawang.
Viral video-1-
Social media users are sharing a video, in which it can be seen that there is a clash between the soldiers of the army of the two countries. A user shared this video and captioned it- “Full video. The clash between Indian and Chinese soldiers in Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh”

While sharing this video, another user captioned- “Arunachal Pradesh: Clash between Indo-Chinese soldiers over LAC in Tawang sector. More than 300 PLA soldiers tried to capture the Indian post built on the hill of the Tawang sector, but the sons of Mother Bharati present there destroyed the nefarious intentions of China and attacked them, and chased them away.” (English Translation)

Viral video-2-
At the same time, another video is getting viral on social media. In this video, it can be seen that the soldiers of India and China are standing face to face. While sharing this video, a user captioned- “After all! Why was this news suppressed? The clash between Indian and Chinese soldiers in the Tawang sector on the India-China border, reports of injuries to more than 30 soldiers. The incident is on 9 December. Which is suppressed by some news agencies, it is very worrying. LAC has never been disputed in this area. #IndiaChina”

Fact check of viral video-1-
The DFRAC team first converted the video into a few frames, then reverse-searched those frames. We found a video uploaded on YouTube on 31 May 2020. The video has been titled – “Indian Army beating Chinese PLA Army”.

At the same time, Russian media has also posted news regarding this video. A media house named ИноСМИ (@inosmi) in the Russian capital Moscow has posted details of the incident.

To fact-check the second video going viral, the DFRAC team first converted the video into frames and then reversed them. We found this video posted by a user on Twitter on December 31, 2021.

Conclusion:
Fact checks of both videos by the DFRAC team make it clear that the viral video is an old video of a clash between Indian and Chinese soldiers, which is being shared as a recent incident. Therefore, the claim of social media users is wrong and misleading.
