Did BJP leaders share a picture of the Mumbai flyover as Gujarat? Read- Fact Check

DFRAC Editor December 7, 2022 2 min read

During the Gujarat Assembly elections, all political parties and their leaders are trying their best to woo the public with tall promises and deeds. Meanwhile, a graphical post is getting shared by BJP leaders and social media users with the claim that it reflects the infrastructure development in Gujarat by the current BJP government.

The graphic was shared by BJP’s Gujarat verified handle @BJP4Gujarat with the caption, “Bharatiya Janata Party’s resolve for state-of-the-art modern infrastructure.

 #AgressarGujarat’s resolution

With this claim, BJP’s Rajya Sabha MP @AnavadiyaDinesh has shared the picture.

Bjp MP from Kutch in Gujarat, @VinodChavdaBJP has also shared the picture with a similar claim.

Apart from this, many other big leaders and users of the BJP have also shared this picture with similar captions.

Fact Check:

The DFRAC team did a reverse image search on Google to find out the reality of the picture of the infrastructure flyover that is going viral. So we found many similar pictures on the shutterstock.com website, and the picture has many similarities with viral images. Below the picture is written- Mumbai, Maharashtra, November 2, 2014: Aerial Panoramic view of Santacruz Chembur Link Road Multi-Layer Four Lane Elevated Flyover Concrete Bridge in Tilak Nagar Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, Asia.

Apart from this, we also found many similar pictures on the website called Alamy.

The image was uploaded by Alamy on November 2, 2014, by Dinodia Pictures with the title ‘Santacruz Chembur Link Road Flyover, Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, Asia’.

Conclusion:

It is clear from the fact-check of DFRAC that the graphical picture of the flyover being shared by BJP leaders and social media users is not from Gujarat but from the 8-year-old Santacruz Chembur Link Road flyover, Mumbai. That is why the claim of BJP leaders and social media users is misleading.
