A clip of US president Joe Biden is doing rounds on social media accounts. He delivered a speech on American manufacturing at the SRC Arena & Events Center in Syracuse, New York. He claimed, “Today the most common price of gas in America is $3.39, down from over $5 when I tookoffice.”
In the above uploaded by Yahoo Finance, at 22:00 mins he can be heard saying the same.
Fact Check
On keyword search, the DFRAC team found a tweet of the US House candidate, Lauren Boebert, “A gallon of gas was not over $5.00 when Joe Biden took office. It was less than half of that.”
Further, Joe Biden took office on January 20, 2021. According to an article in Foxbusiness, on Jan. 20, 2021, the average price for a gallon of gas nationwide was approximately $2.39.
This year, the highest recorded price was $5.016 on June 14, 2022. And, the year average is $3.401.

Therefore, from this fact check it is clear that Joe Biden’s claim about the prices of the most common gas was wrong.
