A video was shared by many users across all social media platforms which showed burqa-clad women protesting on the streets. The video by many was labelled as women protesting the Taliban in Kabul, Afghanistan.
Fact-Check:
Upon reverse searching the individual frames of the video, we were led to various news reports filed by Iranian news media channels about protests taking place in Qom region of Iran. The local news outlet Qom News verified that this video is from Iran where Afghan refugees were protesting the Taliban. The area houses a large number of refugees from Afghanistan and they held these demonstrations on August 16, 2021.
This claim is therefore false.
