A young man named Surya Chauhan was murdered on the day of Eid-ul-Azha in the Khoda area of Ghaziabad. The UP Police shot dead the main accused in this murder, Asad, in an encounter, and arrested three other accused individuals, sending them to jail. Meanwhile, claims are being made on social media that after murdering Surya, Asad made a reel and posted it on Instagram.
Sharing this video, a user wrote, ‘After murdering Surya in Ghaziabad’s Khoda, Asad posted this video on Instagram around 11:00 PM at night… In it, he is saying, “Brothers, your brother has committed a murder today, now I am going inside (jail) for some time, keep showering your love…” But this pig was not sent inside, but straight to hell… In a way, his encounter will serve as a lesson and break their courage.’ (English Translation)
Another user shared this video, claiming it was of Asad, and wrote, ‘I will stay inside for just a few days—with this misunderstanding, he flew away to the heavens (died). …. Asad, the Instagram video of Asad, the accused in the Surya murder case, surfaced after the murder.. The video was made after Surya’s murder.. Fact Check:
The DFRAC team found in its investigation that this claim is misleading. The viral video is not of Asad, the accused in the murder of Surya Chauhan. This video is of Karan alias Tarun, an accused in the murder of a youth named Nitesh alias Nikki in Delhi’s Shalimar Bagh area on April 3.
We received the viral video posted by several accounts on Instagram on April 3 and 4, along with the information that a 20-year-old youth named Nitesh, alias Nikki, was stabbed to death in the Shalimar Bagh area of Delhi. According to the police, this incident occurred due to a mutual dispute/altercation. Following the incident, the accused confessed to the crime himself by uploading a video on social media, after which the police arrested him.
In further investigation, we also found several other reports, including from The Print and India TV, regarding the murder of Nilesh alias Nikki and the accused’s viral video. The Print’s report stated, “A 20-year-old youth was allegedly stabbed to death in a fight near Haiderpur canal in Northwest Delhi. The police gave this information on Friday. Immediately after the murder, the accused released a video on social media and claimed to have killed a man. The accused allegedly said in the video, ‘It is 11:22 PM brother, your brother has committed a “murder”, going inside (jail) for a few days, all brothers show some love.’ According to police officials, two men and a minor have been apprehended in connection with the incident that took place on Thursday.“(English Translation)
Meanwhile, the India TV report mentioned, “A horrific incident has come to light in Delhi, where a teenager stabbed a 20-year-old youth to death and posted a video on social media confessing to the crime. The police gave this information on Friday. The accused has been identified as 18-year-old Karan Kumar alias Tarun and the incident took place on Thursday at Haiderpur canal in North-East Delhi. According to the police, Kumar and his associates, 22-year-old Monty and a minor, had a fight with the victim Nitesh alias Nikki on Thursday. The altercation escalated to the point where Karan allegedly stabbed Nitesh multiple times in the Shalimar Bagh area.” (English Translation)
We checked the social media handle of DCP North-West Delhi for more information regarding this incident. We found that the viral video was posted from the X handle of the Aam Aadmi Party Delhi, raising questions about law and order. Replying to this post, DCP North-West Delhi stated regarding the said incident, ‘It is informed that the said incident was registered under relevant sections in FIR No. 91/26 dated 03.04.2026 at Shalimar Bagh Police Station, which was solved within just four hours and all the accused were arrested. This case relates to the stabbing to death of 20-year-old Nikki @ Nitesh during a fight near Haiderpur canal. A video claiming involvement in the incident was uploaded on social media by the accused, which was later removed. It is also noteworthy that the accused, claiming to be a minor, asserted that he would be released soon, whereas the investigation has clarified that he has recently turned into an adult.
