False Claim: Were militants involved in the killings of Indian Soldiers Aditya Pratap & Farman Tyagi in J&K?

A Bangladesh-based account shared a claim that Militants had killed two Indian Army soldiers Aditya Pratap & Farman Tyagi in Jammu and Kashmir.

Fact Check

On investigation, we found the claim to be false.

According to media reports from Hindustan Samachar, and Live VNS, Aditya Pratap, a resident of Raxaul City (Bihar) and an SSB jawan posted in the Inarwa camp of the SSB 47th Battalion on the Indo-Nepal border, died during treatment at Paras Hospital in Patna. After being seriously injured in a road accident while returning from duty on the night of February 5, the family decided to take him to Patna, where he unfortunately died.

Another media report from Amar Ujala informed that Army Jawan Farman Tyagi, resident of village Ganjhedi (Saharanpur, UP) died in an accident in Barabanki while on duty when in the afternoon, an army truck came from outside. When Farman was opening the gate, suddenly the brakes of the truck failed which hit him after which he lost his life.

Neither of the reports mentioned the cause of the death of the soldiers as an attack by Militants in Kashmir.

Conclusion

The claim that militants killed Indian Army soldiers Aditya Pratap and Farman Tyagi in Jammu and Kashmir is false. Verified media reports confirm that Aditya Pratap, an SSB jawan, succumbed to injuries from a road accident, while Farman Tyagi, an Army jawan, tragically lost his life in an accident involving a truck. There is no mention of a militant attack as the reason for the death.
