video of a girl in Burqa explaining Islamic belief of afterlife went viral on social media
Claim
Recently, a video of a girl in a Burqa explaining the Islamic belief in the afterlife went viral on social media. In the video against the backdrop of a school science expo, the girl explains that every soul after death has to tread over a narrow bridge called ‘Sirat’. It passes over hell. The good people will cross the bridge and reach heaven while the sinners will fall into hell.
Sharing the video, users alleged that government schools’ science expo is being abused to spread Islamic teachings. Users also criticized the incumbent LDF government and named the Kerala State speaker A.N Shamseer for the communalisation of government schools.

Some posts have lamented the failure of the Left government in Kerala and alleged that the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) is controlling the schools in the State. SDPI is the political outfit of the now-banned Popular Front of India and is derailed for its hardcore Islamist tendencies.
Fact-Check
Initially, the DFRAC Team converted this video into key frames and reverse-searched them on Google. The investigation resulted in finding the same video uploaded to ARR private school’s Instagram page on 28, January 2025. The private school is at Balaramapuram in Thiruvananthapuram. The exact video has been uploaded in the post. The school is privately managed without government accreditation. This proves that the video is not from a government-funded school science expo.

Then further, the research team looked for the date and venue of the last Kerala school science expo. From the Kerala government’s Public Relations Department’s website, the team got the press statement of the last Kerala school science expo. As per the press communique, the last Kerala school science expo was held in the Alappuzha district in November 2024. This again proves that the video is not from the government school science expo.

Conclusion
DFRAC team has successfully proved that the viral posts carrying video of a Burqa donning girl explaining Islamic afterlife ideas at a school science expo are misleading. According to the DFRAC’s investigation, the video is from a private school, named ARR, from Balaramapuram, Thirvananthapuram. The video is not from the Kerala government school science expo as alleged by social media users.
Thus, the posts are misleading because they have linked a private school event with a government school science expo.
