Fact-Check: AI-generated image showing Sikh men packing drugs goes viral. Find the Truth here

DFRAC Editor February 7, 2025
Khalistan AI iMAGE

Social media users on X (formerly Twitter) have shared an image, where some Sikh men are handling and filling drugs in packets with the text indicating that this is real secret langar of Khalistani Sikhs.
The Khalistan movement is a separatist movement seeking to create a homeland for Sikhs by establishing an ethno-religious sovereign state called Khalistan in the Punjab region. India opposes such demands as they are against its sovereignty and integrity.

A user named Gems of Sikhism shared this image on X and wrote: “The real secret langar of Khalistani Sikhs.”

Several users shared this image and made similar claims. The link can be seen here and here

Fact-Check

The DFRAC team investigated this image and found it to be AI-generated.

A close examination of the viral image reveals some discrepancies like the logo of Khalistanis, is different, and the fingers of a person packing drugs, which are deformed. Lastly, there is a logo of Grok AI at the bottom right corner of the image.

Thus, this watermark makes it evident that the image has been created using X’s Grok AI.

Furthermore, we checked this image on AI detectors such as Is It Al and Hive Moderation. Both AI detectors certified this image as AI-generated.

Conclusion

It is evident from the DFRAC’s fact check that the viral image showing some Sikh men handling and filling drugs in packets, is AI-generated.

Analysis: The image is AI-generated.
