On social media, a video of heavy shelling has gone viral. While sharing this video users claim that The Syrian Arab Army is shelling from Aleppo on the positions of HTS militants

Fact-Check

During the investigation, DFRAC found the claim to be false. We found that the video dated back to Feb 2020, Turkish Syrian Clashes.

We found this on the website CNN Turk with the Turkish Caption: “Last minute… Targets in Idlib hit like this”
The video was posted on Feb 3, 2020 mentioning that In Idlib, four of our soldiers were killed and nine of our soldiers were injured, and the Turkish Armed Forces hit the Regime elements with howitzers and mortar shells.

Moreover, we found that the DW and BBC published its reports stating the clashes between Turkish and Syrian forces in feb 2020.

Conclusion

It is evident from the DFRAC Fact-check that the viral video has been falsely linked to the recent clashes in Aleppo.The video dates back to feb 2020 Turkish- Syrian clashes. Therefore, the claim of social media users is misleading
