Amid an uptick in terror attacks, a claim has been recently emerged on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) alleging that that Indian troops, in their fresh act of state terrorism, martyred three Kashmiri youth in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir.

A pak-based handle operating under the name of @SomaAslam5 posted an image on and wrote: “Indian troops, in their fresh act of state terrorism, martyred three Kashmiri youth in Kupwara district of Jammu and kashmir. The youth were martyred by the troops during a cordon and search operation in Tangdhar area of the district”

In addition, other Pak-based users also made this claim stating similar facts. The link is given here, here and here.



Fact-Check

To verify the veracity of the above viral claim, the DFRAC team conducted a keyword search in this regard. We found latest tweets from the X handle of Indian Army. As per tweets, two terrorists were killed in the ongoing anti-infiltration operation in Kupwara’s Machil sector, while another terrorist was gunned down in Kupwara’s Tangdhar sector.

Furthermore, multiple media outlets such as India Today, Greater Kashmir & The Times of India also reported this news mentioning similar facts concerning the above viral claim

Conclusion

It is evident from DFRAC’s fact-check that the hat the claim made by pak-handles is misleading. Originally, three terrorists were killed in J & K’s Kupwara district.
