The video was shared by the news agency ANI Hindi News on October 25, 2026. Further investigation led us to another similar video shared on X by the news agency Press Trust of India (PTI) on October 26, 2026. Sharing the video, PTI wrote: “News | Owaisi says AIMIM will make every effort to ensure that a BJP government is not formed in Uttar Pradesh. All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi said on Sunday that his party would make every possible effort to ensure that a BJP government is not formed in Uttar Pradesh.”

Along with this, we also found a video posted by the news agency IANS on X (formerly Twitter). Sharing the video on October 25, 2026, it wrote: “Shamli, Uttar Pradesh: Responding to a question about an alliance, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi said, ‘When the alliance is finalised, we will let you know. We have already said this on record and have been repeating it, but it seems that these people are interpreting it differently! Our party also does not want Yogi Adityanath to become the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh for the third time. If you also do not want this and we do not want this either, then we will join hands with anyone whose objective is the same.’

Regarding the viral video, DFRAC also spoke with Shadab Chauhan, spokesperson of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM). He rejected the viral claim and said that Asaduddin Owaisi had not made any such statement. According to Shadab Chauhan, the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are editing and circulating the video so that Muslim leadership in the state cannot become stronger. He also said that Owaisi’s actual video is publicly available.

Conclusion

DFRAC’s fact-check makes it clear that Asaduddin Owaisi’s statement is being presented out of context on social media. Owaisi did not say that he wants Yogi Adityanath to form the government in Uttar Pradesh for the third time. On the contrary, he said that his party does not want Yogi Adityanath to become Chief Minister for the third time. Therefore, the claim accompanying the viral video is misleading.
