Authenticity doubted? Did Chinese TV air Yahya Saree’s statement in Chinese? Read the Fact Check

On social media platform X, a video has been circulated claiming that Brigadier General Yahya Saree’s gave a statement in Chinese and it has been aired and broadcasted on the Chinese television. The video is showcasing associations with the recent Houthi’s attack on the US aircraft.  

Many users can be seen making homogeneous claims.

Fact Check

DFRAC’s team fact checked the video in question by conducting a reverse image search and we found the original video posted on twitter where the Brigadier General Yahya Saree can be seen delivering a statement that describes military operation targeting the American aircraft carrier “Eisenhower” in response to the perceived U.S-British support for Israel during the conflict in Gaza. It cites causalities among Houthi’s forces.

However, there are no major Chinese TV networks that reported airing such an inflammatory threat against U.S military.

The audio and video quality is suggesting a AI manipulation as the video is edited and inflamed with different images in motion along with a dubbed audio in Chinese language.

Conclusion

It is clear from DFRAC’s fact check that while the statement aligns with Houthi positions, the video claiming it was broadcast on Chinese state television appears to have been digitally manipulated or fabricated. There are no credible evidence that Chinese media actually aired these provocative and provoking remarks threatening the U.S. aircraft carrier Eisenhower as claimed. Hence the claim is misleading.
