A video purportedly showing a man standing near (Electronic Voting Machine) EVM stooping the voters and casting vote on their behalf is making rounds on social media site X(formerly Twitter). Users are fiercely sharing this video and claiming that it is from Bahadurpura, Hyderabad where the fourth phase of voting has recently conducted.

Sharing this video on X(Twitter), a user named Naveen Mishra wrote: “Bahadurpura please make this viral so that the Election Commission can conduct re-election. Only by relying on this will we cross 400”

Furthermore, other users also shared this video and made similar claims.

Fact-Check

Using the key frames generated from the viral video, the DFRAC team found that the video has been available online since 2022. Moreover, the video has been found on the X handle.

We found some reports from TV9 Bangla and Editorji published in Feb 2022, featuring the same video. As per reports, video is from South Dumdum’s Lakeview School in West Bengal showing the vote rigging in Booth No. 108 of Ward No. 33 of South Dum Dum Municipality.

Conclusion

It is clear from DFRAC’s Fact-Check that the viral video claiming to be Bahadurpura, Hyderabad has been misleadingly shared on X. In reality, the video is from West Bengal Municipal Election 2022. Our team has done this fact-check earlier as well.
