A video showing a sea of People took to the streets has recently surfaced on social media site X(Twitter). Users have shared this video and claimed that Protests are held in Colombia for Palestine.
An account named Syrian Girl, which has been observed sharing false news and misinformation on X, shared this video and wrote: “Colombia rises for Palestine. But what does 6 months of protest teach you? You don’t live in a democracy, and walking around shouting isn’t enough”
Furthermore, another user by the name of Wahad Afzal also shared this video and similar claim.
Fact-Check
Using the Keyframes generated from the viral video, the DFRAC team found a similar video on the YouTube channel of Manuel J Velez mentioning: “Total success great national march against Petro”.
Upon investigating further, we discovered some recently published media reports from VOA news, Reuters and AP. As per media reports, tens of thousands of Colombians marched on April 21 to reject economic and social reforms being proposed by the leftist government of President Gustavo Petro, the latest in a series of demonstrations against Petro’s policies.
