A video has been shared on the X platform of social media. This video shows two women wearing burqas being taken into custody by the police. Users claim that these two women have been caught by the police on charges of fake voting. While sharing this video, a user named Jitendra Pratap Singh wrote – “Salma Nagma, etc. has been made to cast fake votes by wearing a burqa. This video has also been shared by many other users with similar claims, including Om Prakash Bishnoi, News Express 9027, Anurag Rao, and Lalit Rawal.

Fact Check:

The DFRAC team reverse-searched the keyframes of the video. We found that the viral video was shared by many social media users in February 2022. A user named ‘Current TV News’ on Facebook shared this video on 14 February 2022, calling it from Rampur. The caption with this video is – “Rampur, DM caught two women who cast fake votes. FIR registered against two women caught in Raza Degree College.” This video was also shared by many other Facebook and Instagram users in February 2022 as being from Rampur.

Conclusion:

It is clear from DFRAC’s fact check that the viral video is not of recent. This video is from Rampur in February 2022, where two women were detained on charges of fake voting. Therefore the claim of the users is misleading.
