FACT-CHECK:  Pakistani accounts shared a video of Big blast in Bangalore amid ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. Truth Behind Viral Video

A video is going viral on social media showing a big blast that took place in Bangalore amid the ICC World Cup 2023. Pakistani accounts on X(Twitter), are raising security concerns for the Pakistani cricket team who is currently practicing for the match with Australia on Friday.

Upon Investigation, the DFRAC team found that misleading news had been disseminated by numerous Pakistani accounts on X, including some major journalists.

Wajahat Kazmi, a journalist and media personality shared this video on X and claimed: “Blast in Bangalore. And they say India is safe. Pakistan must raise security concerns for the cricket team which is currently in this city and have their match against Australia on Friday”.

Ehtisham Siddique, a cricket journalist also shared this video and wrote: “Blast in Bangalore, May Allah(S.W.T) keep our PCT Safe”

The DFRAC team converted the viral video into some keyframes and reverse-searched it on Google. The team found this video on X(Twitter) as well as some media reports disclosing the facts related to the incident shown in the video.

We found this video on X(Twitter), shared by the account of Express Bengaluru with the caption: “Fire breaks in a pub in Bengaluru, the incident has taken place in Tavarekere”

What did the Media Reports say?

The team discovered some media reports from Times Now & TV, disclosing Fire had broken out in Mudpipe cafe in Tavarekere  and spread widely due to an explosion in a cylinder kept in the kitchen of this pub and restaurant. Man jumps from the 4th floor in panic and is being treated in hospital.

According to a news published by India TV, a fire broke out on the top floor of a commercial building in Bengaluru’s Koramangala area on Wednesday. At least six fire brigade vehicles have reached the spot. According to reports, a hokkah bar and a pub identified as Mudpipe Cafe were being operated on the rooftop of the building. The fire spread widely due to the explosion in the cylinder kept in the kitchen of this pub and restaurant.

Moreover, the News Website Times Now published a news article with the Headline: “SHOCKING! Bengaluru Man Jumps From 4th Floor Of Koramangala Building After Fire Breaks Out”. In this news, the Times now reveals: “A distressing event unfolded in Koramangala, Bengaluru, as a fire broke out at Mudpipe cafe situated on the fourth floor of a building. A video captured the act of a man jumping from the building to escape the flames. The building accommodates a prominent car showroom and Cult gym”.

Conclusion

It is clear from DFRAC’s Fact-Check that a viral video shared with the claim of a Blast in Bangalore is indeed related to the incident of a normal cylinder blast in a cafe. Therefore, the claim of Pakistani users including some major Journalists raising security concerns, is false and misleading.
