The new cover page of the Magazine India Today is going viral on social media. Amidst the pictures of the Manipur violence, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s image is also visible with tagline ,“MANIPUR, SHAMEFUL BLUNDERS, INEPT STATE LEADERSHIP AND DELAYED ACTION BY THE CENTRE CAUSE MAYHEM IN THE STATE. WHAT CAN BE DONE”
Social media users like @Shayarcasm and Kirti Azad (@KirtiAzaad) tweeted the image of the cover page which contained the morphed image. The tweet by @KirtiAzaad, which used the hashtag #NeverVoteBJP received 1487 retweets, and 3,878 likes (and counting). Thus making it a viral one.
Fact Check
The image was reverse searched by the DFRAC’s team. During the process, it was found that the cover page was morphed using Narendra Modi’s face. Actual India Today‘s cover page contains Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh’s photograph.
Looking closely into the image it was also found that the cover also mentions Manipur Chief Minister N.Biren Singh’s name alongside the morphed image.

The fact check proves that the image shared by Kirti Azad (@KirtiAzaad) turns out to be fake. The actual cover page contains Manipur Chief Minister N.Biren Singh’s name and photograph. It is the cover of India Today’s magazine, dated August 7, 2023.
