Many pictures of the Tripura riots are getting viral on social media. Many users from neighboring Bangladesh have posted in the Bengali language about the Tripura riots, but many fake and misleading pictures have been posted in these posts.

Bangladeshi user @Dukkhobilashiii has posted 4 pictures. He captioned- “I can’t find the secularists. Mosques are being attacked in Tripura, and Islamophobic characters less Can be found in secular. Big talk children can say.” #SaveTripuraMuslim #SaveTripuraMuslimsNow

At the same time, many other users have also posted these pictures. These users are also sharing fake pictures in the context of Tripura.

Fact Check:

The team of DFRAC did a fact check of these pictures.

Picture no.1-

On reverse searching this picture, we found a report in ‘The Print‘. According to this report, this picture is from Guwahati in Assam, where people protested against the CAA law.

Picture no.2-

On fact-checking the second picture, we found a tweet by journalist Asif Mujtaba. In this tweet, he said that this picture is of the fire in The Rohingya Camp in Delhi. Asif posted these pictures on October 28, 2021.

Picture no.3-

In this picture, 2 men are standing with half-burnt Islamic books in their hands. Users are claiming that this picture is from Tripura. When we investigated it, we found that it was a picture of the fire in the Rohingya camp in Delhi. This picture can also be seen in Asif Mujtaba’s tweet.

Conclusion:

It is clear from the fact check of the DFRAC that Bangladeshi users are sharing pictures of other incidents as the Tripura riots. Therefore, the claim made by these users is wrong.
