A picture of a Congress party hoarding has gone viral from Kerala state. Social media users are sharing the claim written in Malayalam that reads, “If you want to eat beef, then vote for Congress.”
People are claiming that congress is grabbing votes in the name of beef.
A user shared the picture and tweeted, “Pappu ji who wanders from temple to temple. Everyone is being told in Kerala that if the cow is to be slaughtered and eaten, then form the Congress government. This is the same Pappu who shamelessly used to go to temples and bow his head. And now promoting beef eating to form government in Kerala.” ( English Translation)
DFRAC team first analyzed the text on the poster using google lens. The text in Malayalam reads, “I want to know. Killing in the name of food? In this land? At this time? No need for primitive politics.”
After this, the team ran a reverse image search of the photo, which led us to the same photo of the hoarding, which was tweeted earlier on the April 12, 2019, lok sabha elections.
The team also found that the image was then too was shared with a misleading claim.
With the help of google lens, it is clear that the viral post wrongly translates Congress election hoarding in Kerala, claiming that the party asked for votes in the name of beef.
Also, the poster is from the year 2019 and not recent, hence making it a misleading claim
