Old clip of Ram Navami rally being linked to Amravati riots goes viral

Tension continues between two communities in Maharashtra’s Amravati after the recent communal violence. Now Curfew was imposed in the city. Meanwhile, fake news is being posted on social media. A purported video linking the Amaravati violence is going viral with the claim that a mob waving a saffron flag is protecting Hindutva in front of a mosque.

The caption of the viral video said – Curfew in Maharashtra’s Amravati after the BJP’s protest today, following the bandh by Muslims against the Tripura riots yesterday. To understand Hinduism and Hindutva, there will be no better example than this! The task of Hindutva is to protect Hinduism. “Jai Jai Shri Ram!”

Fact check

However, when our team tried to find out the veracity of this video, it has found the claim being made with this video to be misleading.

Along with the pictures, ANI wrote – Karnataka: Visuals from #RamNavami procession carried out earlier today in Kalaburagi. Muslims were seen distributing juice to the devotees of Lord Ram during the procession.

Tweet by news agency ANI shows that this video is not from Amaravati in Maharashtra but from Kalaburagi in Karnataka. Which is being shared with false claim. So this video is misleading.
