Meanwhile, a photo is going viral on social media claiming to be from the Jabalpur incident. In the picture, a mother wearing a life jacket can be seen holding her child close to her chest in the water.
While sharing this image, a user wrote: “Mother… a word that encompasses the entire world… In the tragic incident of Jabalpur, that innocent world was tucked away in a mother’s arms; even the water could not break her final wish. The world has once again witnessed the power of maternal love—death arrived, but the mother did not let go of her child’s protection.”(English Translation)
Fact Check:
The DFRAC team found in its investigation that the viral image is not from the Jabalpur cruise accident. During the investigation, a tweet from the official handle of the Jabalpur Collector was found, which stated: “Jabalpur — This photo is either AI-generated or from another source. It has no connection to the Bargi cruise accident.” (English Translation)
Additionally, when the image was analyzed using the AI detection tool Hive Moderation, the results indicated that it is AI-generated. According to Hive Moderation, there is a 96.2% probability that the image is AI-generated. Meanwhile, an analysis by decopy.ai found the image to be 100% AI-generated.
Conclusion:
DFRAC’s fact-check clarifies that the viral image is not from the Jabalpur cruise accident. The district administration has denied any connection between the photo and the incident. Furthermore, several AI detection platforms have identified the image as AI-generated.
